OverviewOverview

Island peak clmbing (imja Tse 6189 m) is situated at the top of the imja khola valley in khumbu area, just above the summer settlement of chhukung, surrounded by the imja, Lhotse and Lhotse shar glaciers. It offers a worthwhile challenging to the experienced winter mountaineer, competent in using ice axe and crampons, being technically straight forward, the most difficult section being a mixed rock and a ice wall at the slope of around 45 degrees leading to the narrow summit ridge. This climb will take at the ends of trek when everyone is fully able to play with altitude. The mountains was named " Island peak " in 1952 AD, by a climbing team of eric shipton, due to its striking locations in the middle of the chhukung valley, like as Island on a sea of ice. Island peak was first ascended n 1953 by a British team as preparation for climbing Everest. Island peak climbing trips fulfils the dream of every amateur and serious climber, who has been seeking the thrill of adventures climbing and wishes to take adventure trips beyond simply trekking in Everest.

Island peak is the most popular trekking n Nepal. The summit is interesting and attractive with a highly glaciated west face rising from the Lhotse glaciers. After climbing the island peak at the end of the trek with enough acclimatization we will start to descend along the imja khola to dingbochea and head back to nemcha bazaar, passing through pangbochea and at tengbochea with visiting the Buddhist monastery, after descending the hill from nemcha following the dudh koshi valley to lukla with a spectacular mount flight back to Kathmandu.
